Hairy poll: What are the shaving preferences in the intimate area?
Opinions are divided on the question of the right intimate shave. Some go for pure nature, others for a shave. But what is the most popular? To provide clarity, the erotic community Joyclub has now asked its own members for information. The results of the survey are clear.
Natural pubic hair for most a no-go
In recent years one hears again and again from a trend, which actually still comes from the past millennium, is now however again in the coming: Wild growth in the genital area. But what is it all about? Do women and men actually prefer to be unshaven instead of bare?
The erotic community Joyclub examined this more closely in a survey of 2,000 of its 3.5 million members. The result: 91.1 percent of those surveyed shave their genital area, which is thus in the top position of the most shaved body parts – closely followed by the armpits with 86.9 percent. Behind this, the legs occupy third place with 85.4 percent of women and the chest 43.7 percent of men.
So there can be no talk of a trend towards natural wild growth. Neither in the genital area nor in other body regions (with the exception of male beard growth) does shaving seem to be particularly popular.
How important the regular body shave is for most humans, is also shown by the fact that with 55.3 per cent of the female and male participants in the survey more than half indicate to shave themselves daily or at least several times weekly in the intimate range. More emphasis is placed on hair removal in the summer months. Around a quarter of both sexes say they reach for the razor more often in the warm season than in winter.
Hollywood cut is most popular
Of course there is in things Schambehaarung far more than the two extremes – nature purely or complete clear cut. After all, one in ten of the women and men surveyed like to experiment with the look of intimate shaving. Nevertheless, at 73 percent, i.e. almost three quarters, the majority of both sexes prefer themselves to be completely bare, the so-called Hollywood cut. It follows clearly behind on the second place with approximately 7 per cent the Brazilian Cut, which is called with men also “Irokese”. This intimate hairstyle is characterized by a narrow strip along the pubic bone.
But not only the ideal for the look of their own pubic hair was asked, also the preferences of the opposite sex. Here, too, it emerged that the less hair the better.
51 percent of the male survey participants stated that they liked the bare look on women. 32 percent, on the other hand, prefer it trimmed rather than completely shaved. In contrast, women like it most when men have trimmed pubic hair (47.7 percent). Close behind, the second most popular at 45.5 percent, comes the intimate nude look.
Main reasons for intimate shaving: aesthetics and personal well-being
And why is it important to so many people to shave their genital area? Two main reasons were given: It looks more aesthetic and it increases one’s own well-being.
Of the men, 42.8 percent said they would also shave to please their partner. In contrast, only 26.4 percent of the women surveyed would shave to impress their partner.
Above all older terms prefer Komplettrasur
A comparison of the age groups shows that older people in particular make sure that they are shaved all over. Of the 18- to 25-year-olds, only 57.4 percent said the same.
This trend is also confirmed if you only look at the results for men. Of the male respondents around 50, more than two-thirds shave completely, whereas 59.4 percent of those in their mid-twenties do so much less. So it’s no wonder that 13.5 percent of the younger generation like pubic hair almost three times as much as the older generation, of which just 5 percent do.
