Penis Pics: Everything you need to know about dick pics!
Many women complain that men send them unsolicited penis pictures over the Internet.
We have approached the phenomenon of “dick pics”. We wanted to know why men show their penises on the net in the first place. We also look into the question of when sending dick pics is punishable and in what context the whole thing is okay.
What is a Dick Pic?
The word Dick Pic is made up of the English words Dick (German for penis) and Pic for Picture. It stands for a penis photo, on which the member is often seen in an erect state.
A dick pic is usually sent via the Internet. Not only social media like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are used for this but also apps like Whatsapp, Snapchat or dating apps like Tinder.
Problematic: Often the intimate photos are sent to women unsolicited, against their will. The short film “Männerwelten” (Men’s Worlds) by Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf in May 2020 played a major role in bringing the topic to public discussion in Germany.
Countless women receive penis photos unsolicited
A 2017 Pew Institute study on cyber harassment found that 53% of all women between the ages of 18 and 29 have been sent unsolicited obscene images.
A study conducted by the YouGov polling institute among British millennials between the ages of 18 and 36 came to similar conclusions. 46% of the women surveyed said they had already received a dick pic. 89% of them had not explicitly asked for one.
Interestingly, only 22% of male participants said they had ever sent a woman a snapshot of their bestie. Only 5% said they had ever done so without being asked.
Why do men send penis pictures?
There are various explanations as to what the attraction is for some men to send the obscene selfies.
Daniel Rose is a social worker for young men with media and porn addiction. He says that most men are optics-savvy and find certain body parts on women attractive. In doing so, they infer from themselves to others – so they think that women also find certain body parts on men particularly attractive.
But: In most cases, women don’t tick like that, according to Rose. Accordingly, the men rarely receive the hoped-for response and enthusiasm to their sent dick selfie.
Professor of social psychology Barbara Krahé explains the phenomenon differently in an interview with Der Spiegel. According to her, men who send penis photos want to reassure themselves of their masculinity: “They have the need to exercise power: I’m a real man because I decide where the boundaries are – and I cross them quite consciously. Simply because I can”.
This means, contrary to Rose’s assumption above, that senders of dick selfies are usually well aware that they are not pleasing women by doing so. “Doing it anyway means courage, dominance,” Krahé said.
Psychologist Sarah Danielewski from Hamburg is also convinced that sending private dick pictures is about a demonstration of power and consciously crossing boundaries. She says, “Perpetrators enjoy imposing their will, frightening and humiliating.”
Researchers at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Canada draw a similar conclusion in their study on the topic, “Sometimes men find their power arousing in the process. Or shocked, hurt, and angry reactions are perceived as funny or satisfying.”
How women can fight back
Many women react indignantly and angrily when they receive a penis shot in their inbox. Once they unsuspectingly open the image, it’s already too late: it’s been virtually forced on them and they haven’t had a chance to say “I don’t want to see that.”
There are several ways women can deal with dick pics.
One option is to report the perpetrator. According to §184 of the German Criminal Code (StGB, Verbreitung pornografischer Schriften), sending a dick pic without being asked is a criminal offense in Germany.
To file a complaint, it is best to take a screenshot of the photo / chat history and – if available – the number or pseudonym of the sender.
The offender may face a fine and, depending on the severity of the offense, an entry in the criminal record.
By the way: The report does not have to be filed at the police station – many federal states have “online guards” where you can file the report and also upload documents. Also, on the website dickstinction.com, you can report dick pics in 60 seconds.
Victims of dick pics can additionally take other measures. For example, it is recommended to block the perpetrator so that he cannot send any more obscene pictures. You should also report the incident to the site or app operator. The operator can then block the user if necessary.
What we strongly advise against is revenge. Anyone who makes a penis picture sent to him public in order to make fun of the perpetrator is liable to prosecution. Not only because you yourself become a distributor of pornographic writings according to §184 StGB. Also the punishability after §201a StGB, injury of the most personal life area by picture recordings, comes into consideration.
Artificial intelligence against photos of the penis
In the future, artificial intelligence could possibly be used to combat men sending unsolicited penis pictures. The American IT specialist Kelsey Bressler and colleagues developed a filter that, according to her, recognizes more than 95 % of sexually explicit photos and automatically deletes them before they land in the mailbox.
Whether social networks will rely on such AI-based filters in the future remains uncertain. In the USA, for example, companies are not obliged to protect their users. They can invoke the Communications Decency Act (CDA), according to which companies are not responsible for the content shared by their users.
The app Bumble already relies on a filter similar to Bressler’s: its “Private Detector” security tool blurs photos it identifies as problematic. Users then have the option to view the content anyway or delete it unopened.
When sending a dick pic is okay
There are also situations when you can’t blame senders of penis shots. First and foremost, when the woman explicitly asks for such a photo.
On sites for fuck meetings, for example, it can happen that a woman sends pictures of her private parts during dirty talk in the chat and asks the man to do the same.
Apparently, many men also send unsolicited nude pictures on sex dating portals. On the profiles of numerous female members, we could read the request “No dick pics!” more often.
Snap the perfect penis nude picture
The woman said “yes”? Great – then penis pictures can be uploaded and sent. But how do you shoot the pictures so that the woman will also like them?
Here are 8 tips for the perfect dick shot:
- Shave beforehand. Most ladies are into it when the member and testicles are neat and free of hair.
- Tidy background. If you’re shooting the room at home, for example, make sure there’s no clutter in the background. Many women have a fastidious eye for this.
- Plump testicles. Before the snapshot, you should refrain from masturbating for 1-2 days, so that the balls look nice and plump in the picture.
- Flash off. This often makes the tail look sick or artificial. Better to take a picture in daylight or warm lighting.
- Shoot whole body. Numerous women are into full body nude photos. For this, it’s best to use the self-timer and pose sexy on the couch, for example.
- Choose a good angle. Many take photos of their member from above, but this tends to make it look flat. With a lateral view, on the other hand, you can present the penis perfectly in full length.
- Erection. Women usually prefer dicks when erect, not when asleep.
- Artistic shots. It can be worth experimenting when taking photos. For example, some ladies prefer to see only slightly pulled down boxer shorts and a hand reaching into the crotch instead of a bare dick.
Portals to show penis pictures
Another option to show off your best piece are dick comparison communities on the Internet. On sites like penis-bilder.com, schwanzbilder-held.com or peniszeigen.com you can upload pictures of your member.
Some of the portals have rating functions as well as options for contact. So it can happen that one uploads a dick selfie and is contacted by a woman who likes the shot.
Conclusion about Dick Pics
When dick pics are sent in the context of sexting with mutual consent, they can make some women hot. However, the unsolicited sending of such pictures is a no-go and can have criminal consequences.
